Checkr is building a data platform to enable safe and fair decision-making. Founded in 2014, Checkr’s technology and robust data platform help clients assess risks and ensure safety and regulatory compliance to create trustworthy workplaces and communities. 
As Accounting Leader, you will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and be responsible for all accounting operations of the Chilean entity, ensuring compliance with local legal, tax, and regulatory requirements while adhering to company-wide accounting policies and deadlines. The ideal candidate is an accounting leader with hands-on experience who is fluent in English, has a deep understanding of Chile’s generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax regulations, and legal reporting requirements, and has experience in multinational environments.
  • 10+ years designing, implementing, and delivering highly scalable and high-performance data platforms.
  • Experience building large-scale data processing pipelines using ETL/ELT, batch processing, and streaming processing.
  • Expert proficiency in PySpark, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience in data modeling, relational databases, and NoSQL data warehouses (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, data lakes, and the AWS stack (EKS, EMR, Serverless, Glue, Athena, S3, etc.).
  • Knowledge of security best practices and data privacy considerations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Desirable: experience or knowledge of data processing platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.
  • A-team mindset with a strong bias toward action: you raise the bar, act with urgency, remain resilient in the face of ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful results.

As a Senior Data Engineer (Staff) on the People Data team, you’ll help build and evolve the centralized platform that powers every Checkr product. This platform stores and serves the identity and personal records that underpin Checkr’s Workforce, Mortgage, Tenant, Trust, and Personal products, making it fundamental to the company’s AI-powered verification platform and every high-stakes decision our clients make.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, lead, and build a high-performance, reliable, and scalable end-to-end data platform.
  • Work as an independent contributor: solve problems and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers to deliver complex, next-generation features.
  • Bring a customer-centric and product-oriented mindset. Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve product ambiguities and launch features that solve real customer problems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and other stakeholders to design and architect new features.
  • Experimental mindset: autonomy and empowerment to validate a customer need, gain team buy-in, and launch a rapid MVP.
  • Quality mindset: you treat quality as a non-negotiable part of your software deliverables.
  • Analytical mindset: Set up and implement new product experiments using a data-driven approach.
  • Monitor, triage, and resolve production issues for the team’s services.
  • Create and maintain critical data pipelines and datasets to support product and business needs.
