At BeFrank we are building a modern data platform with which we unlock data from dozens of sources and convert it into products that directly provide value for our customers and colleagues. We are not looking for a traditional data engineer for that. We are looking for a software engineer who enjoys solving complex data issues.
You like to write robust software that can last for years, making data available for analyses, reports and AI applications. You ensure that the solution works robustly and reliably, regardless of the scale of the data or the type of source system that is accessed.
You also think about the technical direction of the platform. How do we organize our architecture? How do we keep solutions scalable? How do we ensure quality and maintainability as the landscape grows?
What makes this position special is that you work at the intersection of software development and data. You build production-grade Python applications and data pipelines, automate processes, set up CI/CD and ensure that quality is part of the design from the start.
You will be given a lot of space to take responsibility yourself and propose improvements. In a relatively small team, every engineer has a direct influence on the choices that are made.
What you will actually do:

Write production-worthy data pipelines in Python and PySpark according to the medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold) on Delta Lake. -
Unlocking data from different source systems: relational databases, NoSQL databases, Blob /S3 storage, REST APIs, SFTP servers, etc. -
Writing tests at multiple levels: unit tests, integration tests and BDD tests for data transformations, and integrating them into the CI/CD process in Azure DevOps. -
