Company: INTERKOMMUNALT ARKIV TRØNDELAG IKS
Country: Norway
Type: Onsite
Employment: Full-time
Description: Do you want to work with data that must be preserved, understood and can be found in the future? We have a vacant 100% permanent position with immediate entry. Intermunicipal archive in Trøndelag is looking for a new employee for an important role in our work with information management and digital long-term preservation. With us, you get to work on an important social mission at the intersection of data, technology and law. Here you will work with everything from relational databases and data modeling to exploring modern tools such as language models and AI solutions - everything to ensure that valuable municipal information is preserved, understood and made available for the future. With us you will not get a ready-made subject area where all processes are already in place. You will help shape how we work with the preservation, availability and retrieval of digital information. We are on a journey where new solutions, working methods and competence are built over time. That is why we are looking for you who both take the initiative and contribute to progress, but who at the same time has the patience to build lasting solutions stone by stone. Data processing and quality assurance (Core): You will work with the reception, control and documentation of digital data extracts, with a special spotlight on complex database extracts. This involves testing incoming deposits, documenting processes and ensuring that everything is stored in line with current standards and archival professional principles. You will also follow up archive creators and arrange for the data to be reused in the future. Automation and scripting (Efficiency): We want you to take an active role in simplifying our work processes. Here you will have the opportunity to identify manual bottlenecks and develop smaller applications, scripts and tools (e.g. in Python or similar languages) for use during analysis, validation and making the database deposits available. Exploring AI and local language models (the Innovation): As part of our development work, you will be able to take part in investigating how artificial intelligence and local LLMs can support our tasks. We want to find out how these technologies can best be used to streamline the processing of the data, as well as improve search and retrieval for users. You have a solid technological foundation, but are primarily motivated by exploring, learning and solving complex challenges - either on your own or in collaboration with others. Since our technical professional environment is small, you will be our driving resource in this field. This means that you must enjoy a large degree of independence and ownership of your tasks. You have good abilities to collaborate with colleagues, owner municipalities and external professional environments. We are therefore looking for a person who actively seeks out and initiates collaboration, builds relationships and contributes to knowledge sharing when it can create better solutions and strengthen our professional area. When assessing the best qualified, emphasis will be placed on education, experience and personal suitability, as well as motivation for the position. About the employer:

At IKA Trøndelag, we work together with the owner municipalities to develop documentation management adapted to a digital age and a rapidly developing professional field. Every day we work to preserve and make the municipality's archives available - and in this way we open the doors to history from the late 18th century to the present day.
We are concerned with finding good and forward-looking solutions that ensure important social documentation - both for the citizens today and for future generations.
