Data journalist (f/m/d) part-time (80%), Berlin or remote

**Your tasks**

* You identify topics that are relevant for our readers - and use data to show what others overlook.
* You procure data sets from public sources, queries, scraping or APIs.
* You check, clean and analyze data methodically and cleanly.
* You condense your results into clear statements and reliable theses and write them down in concise articles.
* You develop the appropriate visual form together with graphics and development: chart, map, dashboard or interactive calculator.
* You work on quick pieces about the news situation as well on long-term research.
* You will shape the strategic development of the visuals department across locations.


**Your profile**

* You have already worked as a journalist and published your own articles - ideally data-driven.
* You think journalistically and have a keen sense of news and relevance.
* You work confidently with Python and Pandas. Knowledge of R, web scraping, APIs, geodata, data wrappers, HTML, CSS, and Git are welcome.
* You recognize which visualization best contributes to a contribution.
* You work carefully, independently and source-critically.
* You are interested in German politics and economics.
* You enjoy working in a team and are willing to regularly stay in Berlin and Zurich.

As part of NZZ Visuals you are looking for data in that have a message in them. You examine and analyze these carefully and develop articles from them that provide new insights instead of retelling what is already known: with clear dramaturgy, strong visualizations and real news value.
