Dina job duties

As an AI Infrastructure Application Expert, you will be part of the team developing the technical software environment for training, evaluating and operating next generation open language models. You are responsible for the software infrastructure required to efficiently develop, train, test and deploy models with hundreds of billions of parameters on some of Europe's most advanced supercomputer systems. The work includes distributed training environments and container platforms for performance optimization and automation of large-scale workflows. A central part of the work is to develop, configure and optimize software stacks for distributed training, inference and evaluation of large language models. You work with modern AI frameworks and develop reproducible, container-based environments for training and evaluation, while ensuring models can run robustly, efficiently and reproducibly on thousands of GPUs.

You analyze and eliminate bottlenecks in computation, communication and storage, optimize GPU utilization, parallelization and I/O performance, and develop solutions for monitoring, logging, debugging and restarting long-running training runs. You also contribute to the development of automated workflows for training, model management and evaluation. You act as the technical link between AI engineers, researchers, system developers and the NAISS operations organization. Together, you will develop the national AI infrastructure that makes it possible to train and evaluate some of Europe's most advanced open language models.

The role involves close collaboration with international research projects, hardware suppliers and developers of leading AI frameworks, giving good opportunities to influence future technical platforms for large-scale artificial intelligence.

Your qualifications

Requirements for the position:

    Advanced level degree in computer engineering, computer science, technical physics, electrical engineering, mathematics or other relevant field, or equivalent documented experience.
    Very good programming skills in Python as well as good knowledge of Linux and modern software development.
    Experience in distributed systems, high performance computing (HPC), cloud infrastructure or other large-scale computing environment.
    Experience in container-based environments and automation of technical workflows.
    Good collaboration skills and ability to work independently.
    Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English.

About the employment

Permanent employment, full time 100%. Access according to agreement.
