Our security tools continuously scan application code and active services and merge all results directly into DefectDojo. To ensure that this pipeline always runs reliably, we are looking for a dedicated working student (f/m/d) Security Tooling who will restart failed scans, fix interface problems and avoid duplicate findings. The role has a clearly defined operational framework that is based on tried and tested runbooks. You will receive a permanent mentor from our security engineering team as well as a separate test environment in which you can experiment safely without endangering productive systems.

Task area

• Operation and monitoring of our security tooling landscape, in particular DefectDojo as well as integrated SAST and DAST scanners.
• Restart failed automated scans, analyze log files and isolate obvious causes of errors.
• Maintaining and testing interfaces and tool integrations: REST APIs, webhooks, data importers and ticket synchronization.
• Installing updates and configuration changes – always validated on the test environment first.
• Update of runbooks, documentation of known issues and tool instructions.
• Structured handover of recurring technical faults to security engineering including the required diagnostic context.

Qualifications

• You work in a structured manner according to existing runbooks, communicate transparently and, when in doubt, ask more questions instead of guessing. 
• Enrolled in a degree program with a focus on IT for the entire duration of the employment.
• Basic knowledge of Linux environments and container concepts as well as the ability to read and evaluate system logs.
• Profound scripting knowledge in Python or Bash as well as practical use of Git.
• Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON and YAML.
• Be careful when following runbooks and when completely documenting changes made.
• Clear written communication for handovers and interim statuses.
• Initial practical contact with cybersecurity (e.g. from your studies, CTF challenges or your own projects) is an advantage.
• Business fluent knowledge of German (at least CEFR C1) and fluent spoken and written English.
