Description:
Omitron develops tools enabling U.S. Space Force Command and Control (Space C2) to accurately identify and monitor orbiting space satellites and debris, giving Space C2 the ability to maintain the safety of space assets and providing tactical advantage to the US warfighter. Our Government customer is committed to supporting the use of leading-edge software development tools and methodologies with the goal of applying the successes of this project to future Government projects. Omitron is seeking a results-oriented self-starting software engineer to join our cloud-based software solution engineering team. The ideal candidate brings knowledge and experience with Agile development and CI/CD cloud deployments and has a passion for delivering high-impact web-based applications.
- Determining and analyzing requirements and levels of effort to address complex problems Designing operation software that meets customer requirements
- Developing and maintaining operational software systems
- Performing code and system reviews/audits
- Creating test plans and performing functional system testing and integration
- Troubleshooting system issues on a real-time operational system
- Developing, selecting, tailoring and deploying system processes, tools and metrics
- Developing documentation to support software development and operation
- Coordinating task assignments among team members
- Improving operations by introducing system enhancements and recommending changes to operational policies and procedures

Required Skills:
- Experience in Web API development (i.e. REST)
- Experience in Python Web development (i.e. FastAPI/Flask/Django)
- Experience in database programming (i.e. SQL, NoSQL)
- Proficient at coding unit tests, debugging, and software configuration management.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Desired skills
- Team leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience with agile software development methodologies.
- Experience with distributed messaging systems (i.e. RabbitMQ)
- Experience with containerization (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (i.e. Azure, Amazon Web Services…etc)
- Ability to assemble and give polished presentations and software demonstrations.
- A basic understanding of orbital mechanics and space surveillance processes and procedures. (Training will be provided)
Required experience
- BS degree or higher in Computer Science or engineering field
- 8 or more years of relevant experience.

Job Location:
This is a remote position. The employee may support work from anywhere within the United States. This position reports virtually to the Omitron regional office in Colorado Springs, CO.
