The Digital Government Secretariat operates the critical digital infrastructure on which the State of Chile operates, such as:
- ClaveÚnica — the digital identity of more than 16.3 million people.
- Advanced Electronic Signature — used by more than 80% of the public sector, municipalities included.
- PISEE — the platform through which the institutions of the Chile interoperate with each other. State.
More than 700 public institutions depend on these services to operate every day.
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who treats the operation as a software problem: who defines SLOs instead of discussing feelings about availability, who automates instead of repeating, and who uses incidents so that the system learns instead of looking for blame. You join an already formed SRE team.
It is a public position that involves supporting critical services that serve millions of people.
Functions of the position
- Measure and maintain SLOs, SLIs and error budgets of the SGD's critical services, and use them to decide when to deploy and when to slow down.
- Design and operate the observability of the platforms — metrics, logs and traces — with dashboards and alerts oriented to symptoms, not noise.
- Automate provisioning, deployment and operation of the infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code.
- Engage in the full cycle of incident management: detection, mitigation, communication, on-call shifts and no-fault postmortems.
- Identify and eliminate toil: all repetitive manual work that consumes time today and should be code tomorrow.
- Work with development teams to ensure that services are born reliable, scalable and operable, including production readiness reviews before something reaches production. Manage capacity and performance: anticipate demand, optimize resources and control costs. Implement and ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backups and operational continuity. Strengthen operational security. Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines.
- Document architectures, runbooks and technical standards.
