Egan-Jones Ratings started providing ratings in 1995 for the purpose of issuing timely, accurate ratings. The firm rapidly gained credibility by flagging the failures of Enron and WorldCom and has since established itself as a leading global provider of credit ratings. Egan-Jones is a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO) and is recognized by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as a Credit Rating Provider. Egan-Jones is also certified by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Studies by the Federal Reserve and prestigious academic institutions confirm that over time, ratings from the largest NRSROs tend to converge toward the Egan-Jones Rating.

We are looking for a mid to senior-level Python developer with 4+ years of professional experience. The ideal candidate would have 2+ years of experience using the Django framework. They should also have experience designing a web application and/or website from scratch. We are primarily looking for backend developers, but any frontend experience is a plus.

This is a fully remote position. However, we are looking for people within the EST or CST time zones since the majority of the US employees are in the East Coast. Please do not apply if you are outside of the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Add new features to existing web applications using Python
• Refactor existing features to improve performance
• Design and build applications for new projects
• Provide solutions for new business requirements
• Provide support to end users
• Help mentor junior developers
• Review team members’ code
• Work with stakeholders to determine requirements and project scope
• Attend team meetings
• Working directly with clients or vendors to resolve features or new projects

Qualifications and skills required

• 4+ years of experience with Python development
• 1+ years of experience building REST APIs
• 2+ years of experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.)
• 4+ years using distributed version control systems such as Git or Mercurial
• 1+ years of experience working with frontend frameworks such as Bootstrap, Vue JS, and jQuery
• 4+ years of experience designing and using a relational database (i.e., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL)
• 2+ years of experience developing in a web framework such as Django or Flask
• Ability to solve problems quickly
• Ability to get things done quickly with minimal supervision
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to work in an agile environment

Bonus points for:

• Data science experience (using Pandas)
• UI/UX design experience
• Experience building data warehouses
• 1+ years of PHP or ASP.net development experience
• DevOps experience designing and building a CI/CD process
• 1+ years experience with a NoSQL database
• 2+ years of Django (or Flask) development experience
• Team leadership experience
