Company: Hive.co
Salary: $76,962 - $85,514
Type: Remote
Employment: Full-time
Description:
Our engineering team owns the code and infra that lets our customers do powerful things with our product, simply and intuitively. We care about delivering the right product iterations quickly - we build minimum viable products, deploy to production multiple times per day, listen to customer feedback, and iterate.
We're seeking our first Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team and focus on Infrastructure as Code, Security, and Business Continuity planning. Our technologies hosted on AWS include Python, React, Redis, Mongo, SQL, Elasticsearch, and others.
At Hive, we ingest high-volume data in real-time from 20+ integrations (like Ticketmaster and Shopify), we store and query billions of customer data points, and we send 100MM+ of email/SMS every month to our client’s customers. We’ve built a growing, profitable business and the scale of technical problems we’re solving is quickly growing too!
What you will be doing:
Contribute to shaping the organization's strategic direction by providing valuable insights and recommendations based on industry trends, best practices, and technical expertise.
Enhance the stability, resilience, and availability of critical services, ensuring optimal performance and minimize downtime across all systems.
Develop and implement strategies for scalable infrastructure, observability, and monitoring that support the organization's growth and expansion.
Be the subject matter expert for all things infrastructure. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by driving initiatives and guiding fellow engineers in your area of expertise.
Assist in establishing clear incident management baselines, including defining metrics and setting targets, to effectively measure and improve response times and overall system stability.
Creating and maintaining documentation for infrastructure and application components, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting guides.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 6 years of experience in Infrastructure/DevOps/Site Reliability
At least 3 years experience with AWS
Familiarity with maintaining uptime KPIs on critical systems
Expert with Linux, Kubernetes, and containerized services
Experience scaling complex AWS environments
You’re able to clearly explain complex things you’ve built to others, identifying tradeoffs you made and the hard problems you had to solve
You've thrived while working on a semi or fully-remote team (communicate effectively async, work independently, know when to ask for help, self-manage your time and effort). You can articulate your preferred communication & working style to your teammates
Experience with as many of our existing technologies is a large plus: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, RDS, Grafana, Sentry, Nginx
You might have a great CompSci or Engineering degree, or something else, or you dropped out, or you didn't even go to school - our team is made up of all kinds of smart people!
Technologies we use & teach
Frontend: React, Typescript
Backend: Python, Django

About Hive
Hive.co is a marketing platform for event marketers. We help brands personalize and automate their campaigns, using email and SMS, to empower them to sell out so they can focus on making their events unforgettable.
By integrating with ticketing partners like Ticketmaster and e-commerce partners like Shopify, we enable brands to access and act on all their customer data, so they can easily segment their list in thousands of ways, and send more customized, timely email campaigns that land in inboxes.
We started our company inside a University of Waterloo computer lab in early 2014, graduated from Y Combinator that summer (S14 batch) and have been growing ever since. Originally based in Kitchener, our team is now 100% remote and located all across Canada! We strive to provide an online work environment that allows team members to have a strong work life balance while still feeling connected to their team and Hive’s mission.
