You will work on the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product teams. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and working in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using PythonBuild scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful and/or event-driven servicesCollaborate with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and solution architectsWrite clean, testable, and well-documented codeContribute to system design discussions and technical decision-makingParticipate in code reviews and support best engineering practicesTroubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing systemsSupport deployments and production systems where requiredRequired Skills & Experience5+ years of professional software development experienceStrong proficiency in PythonExperience building backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or DjangoSolid understanding of REST APIs and backend architecture patternsExperience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflowsExperience writing unit and integration testsUnderstanding of basic cloud concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Nice to HaveExperience with microservices or distributed systemsExperience with GCP Native Development would be highly preferredExposure to Docker and containerised environmentsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelinesExperience in Telecoms, Financial Services, or other regulated environmentsKnowledge of messaging or streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)Inclusion & Diversity at ZinkworksAt Zinkworks, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
