- 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering / Data Engineering.
- 3+ years working with AI/ML solutions or LLMs, ideally with structured information extraction.
- Advanced English. – (Required)
- Solid, hands-on experience with Databricks, including the development of data solutions and AI.
- Advanced command of Python and SQL.
- Experience designing and implementing AI solutions based on LLMs for information extraction.
- Experience with Databricks AI Functions and Unity Catalog.
- Solid knowledge of data modeling and architecture solutions.
- Experience technically leading engineering teams, with the ability to make decisions and perform code reviews.

Role Responsibilities
At Improving South America we are looking for Lead AI Engineer to technically and operationally lead a pod of engineers, defining the architecture, the data model and the information extraction strategy through LLMs.
The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, ensuring the accuracy, traceability, quality and reliability of the solution, in direct collaboration with stakeholders.
What you will do:
- Lead the team's technical execution and make implementation and architectural decisions.
- Design canonical data models aligned with existing domain structures.
- Define and implement information extraction strategies through LLMs, including prompts, output schemas and validation mechanisms.
- Develop and review Python code, SQL queries, prompts and pull requests, ensuring quality standards.
- Integrate the solution with external services through defined integration contracts.
- Establish metrics, precision thresholds and extraction evaluation processes.
- Design and maintain data structures with effective-dated and bitemporal temporality when
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to align implementation decisions with project objectives.

Relevant plus
- Experience in healthcare or insurance, especially in healthcare reimbursement processes (healthcare reimbursement) or contract analysis.
- Experience in effective-dated data modeling (effective-dated) and bi-temporal structures.
- Experience with Databricks Jobs and Asset Bundles.
- Experience designing outputs structured LLMs and systematically evaluating their accuracy, consistency and traceability.
