We are looking for passionate and self-motivated engineers to build the platform and services that will drive our growth for the foreseeable future. To be successful in this role, you must have excellent software development skills and excel in a highly collaborative environment. You must be curious about current technologies, fearless in experimenting with it and a quick learner who moves fast and fails faster. We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our development team, helping to create and launch our product to the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, hire and grow a high-caliber team of frontend and backend engineers and their managers
- Lead the development of our SaaS platform, creating, implementing, and managing technical strategies, plans, and procedures to meet product development goals
- Define development workflows, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and ensure projects are delivered on-time within quality standards
- Lead and implement a roadmap that delivers the features, scale, and reliability our largest customers need
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for code review, version control, and software development
- Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions, while keeping up-to-date with industry trends
- Collaborate with executive teams to develop budgets, project timelines, and resource allocations that meet business requirements
- Develop and implement strategies to increase team productivity and efficiency
- Monitor and analyze team performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
- Continuously evaluate and refine processes to optimize team performance and improve overall productivity
- Develop and implement strategies to manage an offshore team effectively
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of experience as a Software Development Manager or Director, with experience in developing SaaS applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating, scaling, and managing a software development team in a SaaS company. Prior management of teams across the stack — frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, CI/CD, software testing, and release management
- Strong experience in web technologies including Python, Django, React, AWS, and strong data experience with or similar to Kafka, data streams, big data sets
- Strong ability to articulate technical solutions to non-technical audiences
- Advanced knowledge of software development tools and technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in managing remote/offshore teams
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable with the 10K ft view as well as diving into the details
- Regularly consider business lens and tradeoffs even for deeply technical engineering problems
- Experience establishing and measuring OKRs or team goals
- Eastern time zone preferred
