Digitally transforming the University of Chile

The Vice -Rectory of Information Technology (VTI), is an agent of change and digital transformation that contributes to the mission of the university, through the development and innovative application of information technologies.For this, it manages and develops technological initiatives that seek solutions to problems, current and future, of the University and the country.Insert in this vice -rectory, there is the Office of Online Education, which has as its main role the creation of capacities in the institution to teach technologies mediated education.It has the mission of designing, developing and optimizing the learning management platforms administered by the office, ensuring their efficiency, scalability and security.It works on the creation of functional and responsive user interfaces, as well as in the development of the logic of the server and DB that support the operation of the platforms.

The competences associated with the position are:

  • Software developer focused on creating legible code, with good technical and quality standards.
  • Good practices to develop as a team, collaborate in the design, comment code, test, document, etc.
  • Good communication to transmit objectives achieved, difficulties or requirements to other areas not related to technology.In multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:and the Django framework.

  • Knowledge with API rest.Gitlab).of style sheets (CSS).
  • Knowledge of some style framework (Bootstrap, Tailwind, etc)
  • Advanced Docker Management.

    Job functions

    Professional of the EOL Development Area, in charge of the Technical Directorate and Software Programming for office projects, ensuring that they have the technical standards of the market and the VTI, and are aligned with the objectives of the team.

    Among its main functions are:

    • Define technologies and technical requirements to be used in each new project.
    • Ensure the technical quality of developments andCoordinate the review process.to the Open EDX platform.Understanding the systems developed to the non -technical members of the team, explaining clearly and accessible how they work, to ensure their efficient and effective use.
    • Ensure a quality code, which can be shared, inGithub and other repositories, protecting information security, as well as maintaining the compatibility of the code with the relevant environments (local and production) and different versions of the platform software.
