About odacova

odacova is a growing B2B software startup based in Dortmund. We are developing a modular platform with which companies can implement individual nutritional solutions for their employees - data-based and practical.

Tasks

Your role

As an Applied AI & Backend Engineer (m/f/d), you will further develop our platform in two closely related areas: Backend Engineering and APIs as well as Data Engineering and Applied AI.

The technical focus is divided roughly equally between backend engineering and APIs (approx. 50%) as well as data engineering and applied AI (approx. 50%).

You accompany features from conception through data modeling and implementation to productive deployment, working closely on product and operations topics.

Your tasks

Backend engineering and APIs

• Development and further development of Python-based backend services
• Conception and implementation of REST APIs, data models and application logic
• Connection of external services and interfaces

Data Engineering and Applied AI

• Further development of data-driven business intelligence tools as well as development of AI-supported analysis and reporting functions
• Productive integration of existing models and LLM APIs
• Development of your own ML models based on our domain-specific data basis

Quality and operation

• Setting up and maintaining automated tests and technical documentation
• Support with deployments, monitoring and CI/CD
• Analysis of logs and troubleshooting during ongoing operations (No on-call or 24/7 service)

Qualification

This is what you bring with you

Required

• Completed university degree in computer science, data science, business informatics or a comparable MINT subject
• Very good knowledge of Python or a comparable backend language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, C# or Go) as well as the willingness to work productively with Python
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, data modeling, Linux/Ubuntu and Git
• Solid basic knowledge of machine learning, generative AI and large language models
• First practical AI applications, for example from studies, thesis, your own projects or the professional context
• Willingness to familiarize yourself with productive systems and new technologies in a structured manner
• Very good knowledge of German and English

Important funding requirements: Since the position is funded as part of the MID assistant program, the examination date shown on your diploma or degree certificate at the time you start working must generally not be more than two years ago. A subsequent academic activity at a university or non-university research institution can extend this period by a maximum of six years.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker or CI/CD
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Firestore or comparable databases
• Experience with Firebase, Google Cloud or other cloud/serverless environments
• Experience with the reliable operation of data or AI-supported applications
